Couples Therapy & Relationship Coaching
From couples I have worked with.
“My husband and I experienced a permanent relational shift after seeing Josh regularly for about 18 months. We had been married for [decades] and had been frustrated by our perpetual and predictable conflict cycles. … Week after week he seemed to sense which one of us needed extra attention, kindness or an additional nudge forward. Josh has an intuitive sense strong enough to reach through the screen of a Zoom appointment and guide according to what the need of the moment seems to require. … The sorting out and untangling of a relational rhythm can be painstaking and Josh was a loving guide for us as we journeyed toward a richer and healthier method of connection. … After having completed our work with Josh, my husband and I now truly enjoy a deeper connection which has brought us so much peace, extra laughter and general well-being. … Any individual or couple who commits to the process under his care will be better for it.”
“I am grateful for your directness, sincerity, time, humor, compassion, knowledge, intent, experience, and humility. I recognize the genuine passion you bring to our sessions each week, with a strong desire to help… So many moments throughout the sessions you can easily press the stop button and comfortably return to your life and your own relationship, but instead you stay in the mud with us way past the hour, and the hour after that. … Thank you for going the distance with us.”
“I wanted to thank you for your softness, and verbiage to navigate relationships in a healthy way. It’s something I’ve unknowingly absorbed on a deep level and is truly transforming my relationship with my oldest child and has softened her at incredible speeds. Your verbiage like ‘good catch, I believe you, your pain makes sense, I’m here with you, I’m on your team…’ even whispering to her ‘a little softer’ when she’s upset with her sister… all of the softness you have provided me through session has allowed me to provide her the same subtle strength which she is responding to so well. I hear you in our conversations and words… You are genuinely changing generations.”

Men’s Groups
From men in my online men’s groups.
“A brotherhood I never knew existed. As much as I used to believe I was alone, I’ve come to see how so many of us have similar experiences. Proud to be associated with men who are showing up in truth, with transparency, courage and accountability.”
“Living the conflict through the role play was awesome. This weekend, I found the courage to answer a complaint with care and respect, and to take responsibility for not being there for my partner when she needed me. I played your answers in my head and then in my heart.”
“For 20+ years, and especially recently, I’ve felt really alone and like my struggles were unique and a result of my failures. Halfway through the first session I realized that everyone’s story, frustrations and fears are variations of my story. I still carry a lightness and joy in my heart knowing that I’m not alone in this.”
More from the men in the room
“I’ve gotten a great deal out of seeing so many men come together and share where they are on their journeys toward emotional safety and security, and I was really blown away by the role plays you took on. In talking to my girlfriend at the end of the night, she told me, ‘Oh wow, you really lit up talking about how that looked to you. It occurs to me that you’ve actually never seen that kind of behavior.’ She’s right: it’s not the kind of interaction I saw in my family (parents, grandparents); it never showed up in my relationships before. … That’s why I’m here. I’ve read and heard a lot about it and seen scripts and tools and brought those to my relationship, but it was another thing to see someone do it, even just for one to two minutes at a time.”

Children, Teens & Families
Before my work with adults, I spent years alongside highly gifted children and their families, in therapy rooms, classrooms, and family homes. I saw from the inside the childhoods many adults are still processing. So when someone new sits down with me, I’m listening not only to what is most distressing right now, but to the whole life that led up to it, and, when it matters (for many of us, it does), to where it all began, because understanding that can be deeply healing.
Child & Family Psychotherapy
“Josh came into our lives as our son’s therapist, but the impact of his work extended far beyond his relationship with [our son]. Through his compassion, knowledge, experience, and remarkable intuition, he not only helped our son grow; he helped bring our family closer together. … He helped him discover and express his own masculinity without reducing it to stereotypes … He gave [our son] something much more valuable: the freedom and emotional safety to ask, Who am I? What kind of man do I want to become? What matters to me? … He listens deeply—not simply to the words being spoken, but to what may be underneath them. … He does not tell him what he feels. He helps him recognize it. … He is compassionate without being intrusive, insightful without imposing his interpretation, and supportive without taking away the young person’s responsibility for discovering his own answers. I cannot recommend Josh highly enough.”
“To say that Josh had an impact on my son’s life is an understatement. [He] first began working with Josh a few months prior to the pandemic. When the world shut down, sessions became virtual. [My son] did not handle the lock down and remote learning well but without Josh’s help and support, I am not sure where [he] would be today. Whether it was playing Minecraft, watching [him] play Roblox, or listening to his jokes, Josh was able to make an unforgettable connection with [my son], even through a screen. Even though [my son] no longer sees Josh, strategies, skills, and tools learned from his sessions are still used today. Sometimes in a moment of distress, both [my son] and I ask ourselves, ‘what would Josh say?’ I am very thankful of the work Josh has done with [my son] and we will be forever grateful.”
“Josh is naturally relational, warm, kind, thoughtful and compassionate. He is astutely sophisticated in thought while also being welcoming, related and humble. Josh is able to build quick rapport as well as establish strong and lasting bonds … Josh nurtures growth and helps people become who they already are. … Josh is a one in a million kind of mentor who can offer a unique level of care.”
